Contec & Aldoria
MoU signature
[Paris, France & Daejeon, South Korea – November 26th, 2024] – In a landmark agreement aimed at addressing the growing challenges of space operations, Aldoria, a European leader in Space Situational Awareness (SSA), and CONTEC, a South Korean innovator in satellite ground services, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This strategic alliance highlights the shared commitment of both companies to enhance orbital safety, fortify South Korea’s national security, and develop cutting-edge space surveillance capabilities.
Space has become a critical domain for national sovereignty and strategic competition. With increasing satellite congestion, collision risks, and uncooperative rendezvous operations, Aldoria and CONTEC are combining their expertise to address these pressing challenges. By leveraging Aldoria’s advanced SSA capabilities and CONTEC’s expanding Earth Observation (EO) and defense-focused solutions, the partnership aims to safeguard South Korea’s orbital operations and strengthen its security infrastructure.
The agreement focuses on providing precise SSA data for Low Earth Orbit (LEO) to Geostationary Orbit (GEO), integrating SSA and EO capabilities, and exploring solutions to support South Korea’s space security capabilities. CONTEC will also consider acquiring Aldoria’s proprietary ground stations to enhance localized monitoring of critical orbital regions.
CONTEC, a pioneer in ground-based radio frequency (RF) services, is undergoing a strategic transformation through its subsidiaries by putting a focus on integrating EO and SSA capabilities. This partnership with Aldoria accelerates CONTEC’s trajectory toward becoming a leading provider of integrated space data solutions for government and institutional clients, reinforcing South Korea’s sovereignty and leadership in space operations.
For Aldoria, this collaboration aligns with its mission to democratize access to SSA data. By providing reliable and actionable insights, Aldoria empowers partners like CONTEC to navigate the complexities of orbital operations with confidence and precision.
Dr. Sunghee Lee, CEO of CONTEC: “Ensuring the safety of South Korea’s orbital assets has become one of our top priorities as space becomes a critical domain for national defense. Our partnership with Aldoria equips CONTEC with advanced SSA capabilities to protect our nation’s strategic interests and reinforce South Korea’s leadership in space security.”
Romain Lucken, CEO of Aldoria: “This partnership with CONTEC is deeply aligned with Aldoria’s mission to make space safer for all. By contributing to the security of South Korea and supporting its defense infrastructure, we are advancing a vision where orbital sustainability and national sovereignty go hand in hand.”
This MoU not only underscores the importance of international collaboration in protecting orbital assets but also highlights the transformative potential of integrating SSA and EO capabilities. Together, Aldoria and CONTEC are setting a new standard for space safety and security, prioritizing innovation, sustainability, and sovereignty.
The agreement, effective for three years, establishes a framework for future projects and aligns with the evolving needs of governmental and institutional stakeholders in a rapidly changing space landscape.
